General Description
Chickpeas or Garbanzo beans originated in the Middle East, and were first cultivated around 3000 BC. They have a delicious nutlike taste and a texture that is buttery, yet somewhat starchy and pasty. Andes Harvest grows Chickpeas of the Kabuli-type variety from our Argentinian farmlands where they are also cleaned, processed, sized and then exported to the world.

Rich in Fiber, protein and antioxidants, chickpeas have a good combination of components for healthy weight loss, improving digestion and reducing blood sugar levels which inherently inhibit appetite.
Applications
As a very versatile legume, chickpeas are an important ingredient in many Middle Eastern and Indian dishes such as hummus, falafels and curries. They are also widely used in salads, soups, pastes, spreads, purees, pasta toppings, snacks, etc.
